Each year, we celebrate the achievements of students graduating from high school and college as they walk the stage proudly to enter the next phase of their adult lives. Some may leave campus with jobs waiting for them, while many will spend the next several months filling out applications, attending job fairs, and preparing for interviews. At Labor Solutions, we see this as a time full of potential, and we want every graduate to make the most of it.

Entering the Job Market
There is so much to consider when first setting out on a career path, it can seem overwhelming. Labor Solutions has a few tips to help guide your steps.

  1. Be ready to work! First things first – always be punctual, know the dress code and follow it, be a good team player, and complete tasks on time.
  2. Be proactive. Rarely do golden opportunities simply fall into one’s lap. Often, it requires some initiative to get noticed. So get out there and network, make follow-up calls, and show the world that you are ready, willing, and eager to work.
  3. Be a social media pro. Make sure your online presence reflects your professional goals. Utilize LinkedIn, and consider creating a portfolio website to thoroughly showcase your skills.
  4. Put it on your resume. Don’t skimp on the details when writing your first resume. You might not have much working experience, but you can include volunteer work, internships, and high school jobs. These experiences demonstrate your commitment, reliability, and more.
  5. Goals and values. Figure out what you want in life. Determine your goals, priorities, and what’s most important to you. This will greatly help you to make decisions about what opportunities to pursue.
