Mother’s Day isn’t until May, National Working Moms Day IS  this month. At Labor Solutions, we would like to shine a spotlight on the single mothers who are working to support their families and why they make excellent employees.

Shout-Out to the Single Working Moms!

It’s unfortunate that there is still some lingering bias when it comes to hiring single mothers, often based on the mistaken notion that their children will detract from their effectiveness on the job. At Labor Solutions, we have found this to be quite untrue. In fact, single mothers are some of our best workers. Here’s why:

  • Single mothers are reliable. A woman who is the sole provider for herself and her child(ren) has a lot of responsibility on her shoulders, and often no one to provide a safety net if she fails. She’s not going to risk losing her home to play hooky from work – you can count on a single mom to be at work when she’s scheduled to be.
  • Commitment matters. Children have consistent needs, and single moms are the ones to consistently provide for those needs. These ladies are looking for long-term positions with opportunities for advancement. They don’t have a lot of free time to spend job hunting.
  • Independent multitaskers. As a single parent, there are always a number of tasks needing to be taken care of and rarely an extra set of hands to help out. Single moms will astound you with their ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously while managing to problem solve and resolve issues without asking for assistance.

Hire the Best with Labor Solutions

We at Labor Solutions believe that single mothers deserve far more credit than they’ve historically been given for successfully holding their heads up and families together under challenging circumstances. Let’s give these women the kudos they deserve!
