At Labor Solutions, we conduct a lot of interviews with potential candidates for temporary jobs. It’s always great when an interviewee has some questions to ask us, because it shows that the individual is truly invested in the position they are applying for. If you’re unsure what you should be asking an employer in an interview, we have some tips for you.

Asking the Right Questions

Labor Solutions carefully screens every applicant during our interview process, and one thing we always notice is what questions they have for us. Here are some of the best ones to ask.

  1. What duties does the job entail? The first thing most candidates want to know is exactly what type of work will be involved in the job. They probably have some idea of what to expect, but often want more details or clarification.
  2. Is there a possibility of a permanent hire? While some applicants are seeking strictly temporary assignments, others desire a position that will lead to a long-term, full-time job.
  3. Who do I report to? When working through an agency, sometimes it isn’t immediately clear who exactly an employee’s direct supervisor is. A conscientious candidate will want to know to whom to address their questions and concerns.
  4. What qualities does the employer prefer in an employee? This doesn’t always come up, but asking this type of question helps an applicant mesh better with the team if they know more about what’s expected of them.
  5. What are some of the best parts about working for this company? Now this is an inquiry that indicates a particularly high level of enthusiasm in an employee. It shows that an individual is looking for reasons to be excited about a position.
